Origin:
The wild-type Oryzias latipes is native to Japan, Korea, and parts of China, where it inhabits rice paddies, streams, and ponds. The platinum morph is a selectively bred color variant developed for the aquarium hobby.
Feeding:
Omnivorous and easy to feed. Accepts flakes, micro pellets, and frozen or live foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A varied diet helps maintain their intense metallic sheen.
Tank Mates:
Completely peaceful and ideal for nano community tanks with rasboras, small tetras, endlers, shrimp, and other calm species. Best kept in groups of 6 or more for natural schooling behavior.
