Description
Six Bar Angelfish – Pomacanthus sexstriatus
Overview:
The Six Bar Angelfish is a large, striking marine angelfish recognized by its bold vertical banding and vivid coloration that intensifies with maturity. A showpiece fish, it thrives in spacious aquariums with plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter.
Origin:
Widespread across the Indo-Pacific region, including the Great Barrier Reef, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Omnivorous — feed a varied diet of marine angelfish preparations, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and sponge-based foods.
Tank Mates:
Best suited for large community aquariums with robust fish such as tangs, wrasses, and triggers. Not recommended for reef tanks, as they may nip at corals and invertebrates.
Aggression:
Semi-aggressive — juveniles are more peaceful, while adults may become territorial, especially toward other angelfish.
Experience Level:
Recommended for advanced aquarists, due to size, diet, and territorial behavior.
