Cherub Dwarf Angelfish – Centropyge argi

Overview:
The Cherub Dwarf Angelfish, also known as the Argi Angelfish, is a small but striking marine fish with a deep blue body, bright yellow tail, and a distinctive black spot on the dorsal fin. Its vivid coloration and lively personality make it an attractive addition to both reef and fish-only aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Western Atlantic, including the Caribbean Sea and Florida Keys, where it inhabits coral reefs and rocky crevices.

Feeding:
Omnivorous – enjoys a diet of marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality angelfish pellets or frozen foods. Supplement with seaweed sheets to maintain vibrant coloration.

Tank Mates:
Compatible with peaceful to semi-aggressive fish. Territorial toward other dwarf angelfish; best kept singly unless the tank is large. May occasionally nip at soft corals, LPS corals, or clam mantles in reef setups.

Aggression:
Semi-aggressive – will defend its territory but generally peaceful with other species.

Experience Level:
Beginner to Intermediate – hardy and adaptable, suitable for aquarists with some marine experience.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)

  • pH: 8.1–8.4

  • Salinity: 1.020–1.025

  • Minimum Tank Size: 55+ gallons

The Cherub Dwarf Angelfish is a colorful, energetic species, perfect for adding contrast and movement to reef and community marine aquariums.
