Description

Multicolor Dwarf Angelfish – Centropyge multicolor

Overview:
The Multicolor Dwarf Angelfish is a rare and eye-catching species with a stunning blend of colors: a creamy white body, vibrant yellow face and fins, a midnight-blue tail, and a soft blush of pink across the midsection. Its unique palette makes it a standout addition to any marine aquarium.

Origin:
Native to the Central Pacific, including the Marshall Islands and Cook Islands, often found among coral rubble and reef slopes.

Feeding:
Omnivorous – enjoys a varied diet of marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and angelfish-specific frozen or prepared foods. Multiple small feedings per day are recommended.

Tank Mates:
Generally peaceful with community fish, but may display aggression toward other dwarf angelfish or similarly shaped species. In reef tanks, caution is advised as they may nip at LPS corals, clams, and some soft corals.

Aggression:
Semi-aggressive – territorial toward its own kind but usually well-behaved in mixed setups.

Experience Level:
Intermediate to Advanced – requires a mature, stable aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing, shelter, and security.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)

  • pH: 8.1–8.4

  • Salinity: 1.020–1.025

  • Minimum Tank Size: 70+ gallons

The Multicolor Dwarf Angelfish is a striking and rare species that rewards aquarists with its beauty and charm, making it a prized centerpiece for both reef and fish-only systems.
