Description
Bush Soft Coral Vasaline (Litophyton sp.)
Overview:
The Bush Soft Coral Vasaline is a hardy and visually striking soft coral, featuring bushy, tree-like branches covered in small polyps. Its pale, vasaline coloration adds subtle elegance to reef aquariums while its movement in the current brings a natural, dynamic appearance to the tank.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, often found growing on reef slopes and rubble in moderate to strong currents.
Feeding:
Primarily photosynthetic, deriving energy from symbiotic zooxanthellae. Supplemental feeding with phytoplankton or liquid coral foods can support faster growth and more vibrant coloration.
Tank Mates:
Reef-safe and compatible with peaceful fish and invertebrates. Should be positioned away from aggressive or stinging corals to avoid tissue damage.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive. Generally slow-spreading and does not compete strongly with neighboring corals.
Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate. Hardy and adaptable, suitable for most reef setups. Thrives under moderate lighting, moderate water flow, and stable water parameters.
Water Parameters:
-
Temperature: 72–78°F (22–25.5°C)
-
