Marble Starfish (Fromia sp.)
Overview:
The Marble Starfish is a beautifully patterned starfish, often showing marbled or mottled coloration in shades of red, orange, or burgundy. Peaceful and reef-safe, it makes an elegant and functional addition to a marine aquarium.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, typically found on coral reefs and rocky substrates.
Feeding:
Feeds on biofilm, detritus, and small organic matter found on live rock. May accept supplemental feeding of finely chopped meaty foods or algae-based diets if natural food is limited.
Tank Mates:
Excellent for reef aquariums. Safe with corals, fish, and most invertebrates. Avoid housing with aggressive predators (puffers, large wrasses, triggers) that may nip at starfish.
Aggression:
Completely peaceful and non-aggressive.
Experience Level:
Intermediate. Requires a mature, stable aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing. Sensitive to rapid changes in water chemistry.
