Overview:
The Albino Cherry Barb is a selectively bred variant of the popular Cherry Barb, featuring a creamy white to pale gold body with a soft pink blush and bright red eyes. It shares the same peaceful nature, hardiness, and active schooling behavior as the standard form, making it perfect for planted community aquariums.
Origin:
The wild-type Puntius titteya is native to Sri Lanka, inhabiting shaded, slow-moving streams and forest pools rich in vegetation. The albino form is a captive-bred strain developed in the aquarium trade.
Feeding:
Omnivorous and undemanding. Accepts flakes, micro pellets, and frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A varied diet will enhance their subtle pink and gold tones.
Tank Mates:
Peaceful and ideal for small to medium community aquariums. Mix well with other calm species such as rasboras, tetras, Corydoras, and dwarf gouramis. Keep in groups of at least 6–8 to promote schooling and natural activity.
