Overview
The Tiger Cowrie is a large and iconic marine snail, easily recognized by its glossy, smooth shell adorned with bold, dark tiger-like spots. Slow-moving and peaceful, it adds a striking focal point to reef or marine aquariums while helping control algae growth.
Origin
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including the Red Sea, Hawaii, and Polynesia, Cypraea tigris inhabits coral reefs and rocky substrates where it grazes on algae and detritus.
Feeding
Primarily herbivorous, feeding on algae, biofilm, and detritus. Can be supplemented with dried seaweed, algae sheets, or marine algae wafers in aquariums with low natural growth.
Tank Mates
Reef-safe with corals and most fish. Avoid aggressive predators such as large wrasses, puffers, or crabs that may harm the snail.
Aggression
Peaceful. Does not harm corals or other invertebrates.

Suitable for intermediate aquarists. Requires a mature reef aquarium with stable water parameters, ample algae, and secure substrate to prevent tipping or stress.
