Description
Finger Soft Coral (Round) – Sinularia sp.
Overview:
The Finger Soft Coral (Round) is a hardy leather coral with smooth, rounded finger-like branches that sway gently in the current. Its bushy, tree-like appearance makes it an attractive centerpiece coral while also providing natural shelter for small reef fish and invertebrates.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, where it thrives on shallow reef flats and slopes in areas of steady current.
Feeding:
Primarily photosynthetic, sustained by symbiotic zooxanthellae. While not dependent on direct feeding, it can benefit from supplemental doses of phytoplankton, microplankton, or other coral foods.
Tank Mates:
Reef-safe and compatible with peaceful fish and invertebrates. Should be placed with some spacing from other corals, as larger colonies may release chemicals that can stress nearby species.
Aggression:
Moderate. Does not sting but may engage in chemical warfare. Running activated carbon and maintaining good water flow helps reduce allelopathy.
Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate. Very hardy and adaptable, making it a great choice for reef keepers of all experience levels. Prefers moderate to high lighting, moderate to strong water flow, and stable water chemistry.
