Overview:
The Goldspot Snake Eel is a striking and elongated marine eel, easily identified by its slender body with distinctive golden spots along a pale base, giving it an eye-catching appearance. Known for its burrowing behavior, it spends much of its time partially hidden in sand, creating a natural and dynamic display in the aquarium.

Origin:
Native to the Western Atlantic and Caribbean, commonly found in sandy areas near coral reefs from Florida to Brazil.

Feeding:
Carnivorous – feeds on small crustaceans and invertebrates. In captivity, provide frozen or live shrimp, chopped seafood, and other meaty marine foods.

Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful, larger species. Avoid small fish and invertebrates that may be viewed as prey. Suitable for species-specific or carefully managed community setups.

Aggression:
Non-aggressive/predatory – mostly peaceful but may hunt small invertebrates or fish.

Experience Level:
Advanced – requires a well-established aquarium with deep sand substrate for burrowing and secure hiding spots.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)

  • pH: 8.1–8.4

  • Salinity: 1.020–1.025

  • Minimum Tank Size: 100+ gallons with deep sand bed

The Goldspot Snake Eel is a fascinating and unique sand-dwelling predator, perfect for experienced aquarists looking to add natural behavior and striking patterning to a marine aquarium.
