Description

Lennardi Wrasse (Anampses lennardi)

Overview

The Lennardi Wrasse is a peaceful and visually striking reef fish known for its elongated body adorned with vibrant green, blue, and red markings. Graceful and active, this wrasse adds constant motion and subtle elegance to marine aquariums while naturally helping control small invertebrates.

Origin

Native to the Indo-Pacific, particularly around Indonesia, the Philippines, and Papua New Guinea, Anampses lennardi inhabits coral reefs and sandy lagoon slopes, often hiding among crevices and rubble during the day.

Feeding

An omnivore that thrives on a varied diet of frozen mysis, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets. Feed 2–3 times daily and provide live rock to allow natural grazing behavior.

Tank Mates

Peaceful and reef-safe with most species, including gobies, tangs, anthias, and small wrasses. Avoid aggressive or highly territorial tank mates.

Aggression

Very peaceful. Rarely shows territorial behavior and prefers a mature aquarium with ample hiding spaces and a sandy substrate for burrowing.

Experience Level

Recommended for intermediate aquarists. Requires a mature, stable reef aquarium with excellent water quality and live rock for natural foraging.

Water Parameters

  • Temperature: 75°F – 82°F (24°C – 28°C)

  • Salinity: 1.020 – 1.025 SG

  • pH: 8.1 – 8.4
