Native to North America, primarily the central United States, inhabiting streams, rivers, and creeks with moderate to fast flow.
Feeding
Omnivorous and unfussy, readily accepting flakes, pellets, live foods, frozen foods, and algae-based diets.
Tank Mates
Peaceful and suitable for community aquariums with similarly sized, non-aggressive fish. Avoid housing with large predators.
Aggression
Low aggression; thrives in groups of 6 or more. Displays mild chasing behaviour within the school.

Great for beginners due to its hardiness and adaptability to a wide range of conditions.
