Overview:
The Red Spotted Starfish is a stunning reef-safe starfish known for its bright red to orange body adorned with darker spotted markings. Peaceful and attractive, it adds vibrant color and interest to established marine aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, typically found in shallow reef zones and on rocky substrates.
Feeding:
Feeds on biofilm, algae, and detritus from live rock. May accept supplemental feeding with finely chopped meaty foods or algae-based diets in mature tanks.
Tank Mates:
Safe for reef aquariums. Compatible with corals, peaceful fish, and most invertebrates. Avoid predators such as puffers, triggers, or large wrasses that may nip at starfish.
Aggression:
Completely peaceful.
Experience Level:
Intermediate. Requires a mature, stable system with plenty of live rock and pristine water quality. Sensitive to sudden changes in water chemistry or salinity.
