The Stardust Ricefish is a captivating ornamental variety of the Japanese Ricefish, named for its shimmering, speckled appearance that resembles stars scattered across the night sky. With a translucent to light-colored body covered in sparkling iridescent flecks, it glitters beautifully under natural sunlight or aquarium lighting. Peaceful, hardy, and easy to breed, this variety is perfect for both aquariums and outdoor ponds.
Origin:
The wild-type Oryzias latipes is native to Japan, Korea, and parts of China, living in rice paddies, streams, and ponds. The Stardust morph is a selectively bred strain developed by Japanese breeders for ornamental display.
Feeding:
Omnivorous and undemanding. Accepts flakes, micro pellets, and live or frozen foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and cyclops. A varied diet will enhance sparkle and overall health.
Tank Mates:
Completely peaceful and best kept in nano community tanks with other small, calm species such as rasboras, endlers, small tetras, and shrimp. Keep in groups of 6 or more for natural schooling behavior and social interaction.
