Tree Coral Polyp (Acrozoanthus sp.)

Overview:
The Tree Coral Polyp is a unique colonial zoanthid coral, forming stalk-like structures that resemble tiny tree branches covered in polyps. Hardy and visually striking, it adds movement, texture, and color to reef aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found in shallow reef zones attached to rubble, rock, or dead coral skeletons.

Feeding:
Photosynthetic, deriving most of its nutrition from symbiotic zooxanthellae. Benefits from supplemental feeding of microplankton, phytoplankton, and other liquid coral foods to encourage growth and vibrant coloration.

Tank Mates:
Reef-safe. Compatible with peaceful fish and invertebrates. Avoid aggressive corals that may sting or outcompete it for space.

Aggression:
Non-aggressive but may spread over nearby rockwork if conditions are favorable.

Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate. Hardy and adaptable, suitable for most reef tanks. Requires moderate lighting, gentle to moderate water flow, and stable water parameters.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72–78°F (22–25.5°C)

  • pH: 8.1–8.4

  • Salinity: 1.023–1.025

  • dKH: 8–12
