Description
Green Star Coral Polyp (Pachyclavularia violacea)
Overview:
The Green Star Polyp Coral is a hardy and fast-growing soft coral, well-loved for its bright neon-green polyps that sway beautifully in the water flow. It forms a vibrant mat over rockwork, adding instant color and movement to reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, typically found in shallow reef zones encrusting rocks and coral skeletons.
Feeding:
Photosynthetic, gaining most nutrition from symbiotic zooxanthellae. Supplemental feeding with phytoplankton, marine snow, or other liquid coral foods will support growth and coloration.
Tank Mates:
Reef-safe. Compatible with most peaceful fish and invertebrates. Best placed away from slow-growing corals, as its rapid spread may overtake neighboring colonies.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive but highly invasive; spreads quickly over rock surfaces and may crowd out less aggressive species.
Experience Level:
Beginner. Extremely hardy, making it one of the best starter corals for reef tanks. Prefers moderate to high lighting, moderate water flow, and stable water conditions.
