The Zebra Eel is a striking marine eel featuring a black body adorned with bold white stripes, giving it a unique “zebra” pattern. Its slender, elongated body allows it to navigate tight spaces in rocky reefs, making it an intriguing and dynamic addition to a marine aquarium.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found in coral reefs and sandy crevices from East Africa to Hawaii.
Feeding:
Carnivorous – primarily feeds on small fish, crustaceans, and marine invertebrates. In captivity, offer meaty foods such as chopped shrimp, squid, and frozen marine preparations.
Tank Mates:
Best housed with larger, non-aggressive tank mates. Avoid small fish or shrimp, as they may be viewed as prey. Suitable for species-only or mixed tanks with careful selection.
Aggression:
Semi-aggressive/predatory – generally peaceful toward larger fish but will hunt small fish and invertebrates.

Advanced – requires a well-established aquarium with secure rockwork for hiding, and careful attention to diet.
