Antler Cultured Hard Coral (Montipora sp.)
Overview
The Antler Cultured Hard Coral (Montipora sp.) is a stunning small-polyp stony (SPS) coral prized for its intricate, branching antler-like growth and vibrant coloration, which can range from bright green to orange, red, or purple. Hardy and fast-growing, it makes an excellent choice for aquarists looking to add texture, structure, and vivid color to their reef aquarium.
Origin
Aquacultured from sustainably sourced colonies, Montipora species are native to the Indo-Pacific, where they inhabit shallow reef zones with strong water movement and intense lighting.
Feeding
Primarily photosynthetic, relying on symbiotic zooxanthellae for nutrition, but benefits from supplemental feeding with microplankton, reef roids, or coral foods a few times per week to promote growth and coloration.
Tank Mates
Peaceful and reef-safe, compatible with most corals and reef fish. Avoid placement near aggressive LPS corals or those with long sweeper tentacles.
Aggression
Peaceful. Does not possess strong stinging tentacles but should be spaced to allow room for growth and prevent crowding.
