Description

Panda Nano Goby – Paragobiodon lacunicolus

Overview:
The Panda Nano Goby is a tiny, reef-dwelling goby known for its striking black-and-white “panda” coloration and small size, making it ideal for nano and reef aquariums. It often perches among coral branches, adding color and activity without disturbing the tank environment.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found in branching corals on shallow reef flats.

Feeding:
Carnivorous – feeds on tiny invertebrates, copepods, and planktonic food. In captivity, it readily accepts frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and micro-pellets. Frequent small feedings are recommended to mimic natural grazing.

Tank Mates:
Peaceful and reef-safe, ideal for nano reefs or tanks with other small, non-aggressive fish. Avoid large or aggressive tank mates.

Aggression:
Low. Territorial only within its immediate perch but generally very peaceful.

Experience Level:
Intermediate. Requires a well-established reef tank with healthy live coral to perch and shelter in.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 74–78°F (23–26°C)

  • pH: 8.1–8.4

  • Salinity: 1.020–1.025

  • Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons

The Panda Nano Goby (Paragobiodon lacunicolus) is a small, peaceful, and visually striking reef inhabitant, perfect for hobbyists looking to add color and natural reef behavior to nano or larger reef tanks.
